Trees are silent witnesses to our changing world. They help us to live, and most of them will outlive us. But like other living beings, they are suffering from global warming. What can they teach us? What does science know about them, their adaptation and their needs? Could art help us hear their messages?
With the exhibition Arboreal Futures, two artists offer us their own translation of the research carried out by EPFL’s PERL (Plan Ecology Research Lab). Performer Maja Renn and designer Krzystof Wronski have worked with Professor Charlotte Grossiord and her team to create works that speak to our senses about these beings of sap and wood.
Proposed by the Climanosco association, produced with EPFL Pavilions and EPFL’s Vice Presidency for Responsible Transformation, and supported by Swiss National Science Foundation, Loterie Romande, Mobiliar and Foundations Hirzel and Oertli, this exhibition is part of the vast Dear2050 project.
