Updates on website and how to participate in reviews of manuscripts
Posted on 04/05/2025
Dear Member of Climanosco, dear friend,
Over the last few months we have made important changes to our website to help make the peer review flow of our manuscripts easier and faster.
We implemented the changes that were voted at our 2024 General Assembly on the peer review process.
From now on, manuscripts will become publicly accessible after a positive editor’s acceptance decision following the preliminary discussion.
Your participation in preliminary discussions is even more important as it helps authors make preliminary improvements and it allows the science editor take a more informed decision of accepting the submitted manuscript or not.
The required number of science and accessibility reviews is now reduced from two to one each (for the general case, with an option for the science editor to request more reviews when needed).
We also have implemented two things to help you more easily participate in the review of manuscripts.
First we refurbished your page My Contributions.
This is now the page to go if you have been invited to submit a review, if you have volunteered as a reviewer, or if you are wondering about how to participate in the reviews of manuscripts.
Second, you can now opt in as a reviewer on any manuscript that is open for reviews. Opting in means notifying the science editor that you are volunteering to review a manuscript.
It makes the job of the editor much easier and greatly speeds up the peer review of manuscripts.
Are you ready? Check out your My Contributions page and see which manuscripts you would be keen to read from the list of eight manuscripts that appear at the top of the page. Hint: If you only see three manuscripts in this list, simply click on “See more manuscripts…”.
When you find a manuscript that’s of interest, click on the title, and then follow the link “Opt in as accessibility/science reviewer” in the right column. Click to confirm, and wait for the editor’s invitation email. After receiving the editor’s invitation email, you will be able to submit your accessibility/science review from the right column of the manuscript page.
Note that participation in the reviews of manuscripts requires to be logged in as a member. If you wish to participate and don’t find the options mentioned above, please log in or upgrade your registration if necessary (it’s free). Don’t hesitate to contact the team if you have any questions.
Thank you for choosing to make climate science more accessible.
