Manuscripts: Requirements upon submission

Note: This draft version 0 is applicable since 01/01/2015 and until 14/09/2017, pending approval by the Board of Directors and the General Assembly. Previous version. Next version.

Climanosco is dedicated to publishing high quality articles in climate sciences that can be read by a large public without prior scientific knowledge. For this purpose, Manuscripts submitted to Climanosco must comply with a set of minimal requirements in order to be admitted in the Peer-Review Process. These criteria are the following:*

  • The main author of the Manuscript must be a scientific member of Climanosco. The co-authors can be scientific or non-scientific members of Climanosco. Non-member scientists can be invited to join co-authorship when their expertise is clearly needed.
  • The Manuscript must be based on scientific works that have been published in recognised peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • The Manuscript must focus on a topic of interest to Climanosco, namely a topic related to climate sciences.
  • New Manuscripts must be written in English and must meet the basic editorial quality. They must be structured, concise, clear and coherent. More than 2500 words are not allowed. The Abstract must also be kept under 200 words. See Guidelines for preparing a successful Manuscript for more details.
  • The Manuscript must be written in a language which can be understood by a large public without prior scientific knowledge.

These criteria are checked by Climanosco’s office which notifies the main author of its decision within two weeks of submission:

  • The Manuscript fulfills all submission requirements and is admitted in the Peer-Review process.
  • The Manuscript needs minor changes, usually minor editing, before being admitted for Peer-Review. The main author is required to make the required adjustments within 2 weeks.
  • The Manuscript can not be admitted in its current form. The office may suggest to the authors to perform some changes to the Manuscript or to turn it into a Manuscript Invitation.
